In the past few years, automakers have been slowly transitioning to turbocharged engines, and out of the many manufacturers who have jumped on board for the switch, Toyota is one brand that has held off including turbos in their lineup. However, this could be changing in the near future. With competition in the industry at an all-time high, it's being said that the brand has plans to introduce a turbo on the popular Camry. A huge step for Toyota, this change could eventually lead to the use of turbos across the roster.

Toyota, a company that has utilized turbos on select models in the '90s, has decided to debut a turbocharged engine on a future Camry in order to boost fuel economy. According to sources in the industry, the midsize sedan is expected to receive a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which will replace the current 3.5L V6 option. In addition to this change, the Toyota Camry could be fitted with a larger standard four-cylinder displacement that may also run on the Atkinson cycle. A continuously variable transmission could also take the place of the six-speed automatic transmission available on the latest 2015 Camry.

As Toyota's flagship model, the Camry is a prime pick for the introduction of turbos in their lineup. It has been branded the best-selling car in America and is loved by millions. Available now at Vandergriff Toyota, the 2015 Toyota Camry is an excellent choice for today's buyers.
