Having a full-size car in a congested city can sometimes make traveling a pain; however, Toyota is currently working to make urban excursions less daunting, with the development of two super-compact electric vehicles. The Toyota i-Road and COMS are two zero-emission models the brand hopes to unleash on the global market. Just recently, a focus group of 65 residents in Dallas had the opportunity to test out each vehicle at the American Airlines Center, where they got to see first-hand how beneficial they could be for everyday commuting in the busy city.
During the exclusive event held smackdab in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, participants had the chance to take a spin in the electric cars and discover their capabilities. They also provided feedback about the models and discussed how compact cars, such as the i-Road and COMS, could be utilized in their daily lives. Toyota plans to use this information to determine the future of ultra-compact vehicles and their effect on the market. As a part of their testing, i-Roads are currently being loaned out to people in Tokyo, Japan, while COMS models are available for purchase in the country. We have high hopes these vehicles will eventually make their way to the U.S. and land in the North Texas community.
"As we look for ways to ease congestion in major hubs like the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, we are exploring how these types of electric vehicles may fit into the transportation landscape," said Jim Lentz, chief executive officer, Toyota North America. "We're excited to show Texans where these advanced technologies could take us."
