The 2016 Toyota Mirai and 2016 Toyota Tacoma have been named Best Cars of 2016 by the Hispanic Motor Press Awards. The accolades were presented to Toyota at this year's LA Auto Show, with the Mirai earning the Innovation Award and the Tacoma receiving the award for best Pickup L-Duty truck.

Toyota was honored to have two vehicles praised as a part of the 6th annual Hispanic Motor Press Awards. A total of 15 journalists selected this year’s recipients by determining which cars, trucks and SUVs best addressed the needs of Hispanic car buyers. From design and comfort to safety and performance, each eligible model's features and capabilities were closely examined and tested. In the end, the Toyota Tacoma and Mirai were chosen out of 100 cars to receive coveted awards.

"Hispanic consumers represent a critically important market for Toyota, and we dedicate a great deal of time to understanding how we can design and market our vehicles to meet their needs," said Jack Hollis, group vice president of Marketing, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.  "We're thrilled to receive these awards today, and thank the jurors for recognizing two vehicles that we're extremely proud to bring to customers."

Not yet offered in Texas, the Toyota Mirai is a fuel cell vehicle completely powered by hydrogen. Without the emission of carbon dioxide, the vehicle is one of the most eco-friendly options available today. The 2016 Toyota Tacoma, redesigned for 2016, offers even greater performance and off-road capability this year, along with a first-class interior design. It continues to be the best-selling midsize truck in America and is available now at Vandergriff Toyota.
