The all-new 2017 Toyota Highlander is gearing up to dominate Texas roads, with its high-powered engine and handsome design.
For starters, inside the Highlander, you’ll find lush seating and luxurious, soft-touch materials galore. In addition, a new SE trim level has been added to the lineup. This grade brings a sportier feel to the SUV, with its lower grille, headlamp surrounds, dark-silver roof rails and 19-inch wheels.

Top-tier technology like Automatic High Beams, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Forward Collision Warning and automatic emergency brake systems will help keep you and your passengers safe with every mile. Plus, all these terrific technologies come standard on every Highlander. The Limited Platinum trim offers a 360-degree-view monitor, for improved safety.
The exterior design of this sophisticated SUV is modern, with its dynamic lines and creases. LE, LE Plus and XLE trims come with silver-painted grilles, while higher trims (Limited and Platinum) receive chrome-finished ones.
You’ll also have more exterior color options to choose from on the new 2017 Highlander: Celestial Silver Metallic, Toasted Walnut Pearl and the Salsa Red Pearl paint, which is only offered on SE grades.
Under the hood, the Highlander will once again offer car buyers a choice of three powertrains: a 2.7-liter four, a 3.5-liter V6 engine, and a gas-electric hybrid. The V6 will benefit from the two additional gears in its automatic transmission. Toyota has opted to upgrade from a six-speed to an eight-speed automatic, which will deliver more power and better fuel efficiency.
Hybrid models get the same mechanics just mentioned, with the exception of a continuously variable transmission (CVT), instead of the eight-speed automatic.
Other notable enhancements include the addition of four more USB ports (five total), compared to just one that was offered on earlier models.
We anticipate that the all-new Highlander will hit our store sometime this fall. For more information, stop by Vandergriff Toyota, and, while you’re here, take the 2016 Highlander for a test drive.
