The 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro has been officially named Midsize Truck of Texas, following this year’s Texas Truck Rodeo held by the Texas Auto Writer’s Association. Offering top-of-the-line performance and a range of incredible capabilities, the Tacoma TRD Pro is a clear frontrunner in its class and admired by many.

“As America’s best-selling mid-size pickup for ten years running, the recognition as Mid-size Pickup Truck of Texas confirms our vision of producing a truck that can tackle any off-road challenge,” said Mike Sweers, Tacoma chief engineer. “Toyota’s commitment to the new Tacoma TRD Pro was focused on meeting the needs of adventure-seekers where roads fear to tread, and we have proven that today.”

A variety of journalists at the 2016 Texas Truck Rodeo test drove 82 different vehicles before deciding which one would receive the award for Midsize Truck of Texas. Each CUV, SUV and truck evaluated had to undergo on- and off-road testing in order to be eligible for accolades in different categories during this year’s outing.

Equipped with a 278-horsepower Atkinson-cycle V6 engine, the Tacoma TRD Pro was able to handle each course with no problem. Additional components including a Crawl Control system, Locking Rear Differential, Hill Start Assist, Active Traction Control and Multi-Terrain Select also supported the pickup’s capabilities during the evaluations.

Each of these features and others are what make the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro an excellent pick in the midsize truck segment. Stop by Vandergriff Toyota to see if we have the model in stock now.
