Toyota Vehicle Service Warning Indicators
Today, let's learn about the lights on your dashboard. They'll tell you when your car needs maintenance or repairs. Learn these common light meanings to improve your automotive awareness and on-road competency.

Airbag Fault
If you see this light while running your car, the system that monitors your airbags has noticed a fault that may affect proper deployment. For your crash safety, do not ignore this light and have your airbag system serviced.

Low Fuel Level Warning Light
When you get this light on your dashboard, immediately find a gas station. The light indicates a low fuel level in your gas tank. If you're wondering how low, check your owner's manual. We recommend never trying to stretch additional mileage out of a nearly empty tank.

Oil Pressure Warning Light
This indicator means you should check your oil level. Add oil if needed. If you find the level within the acceptable range, your car may need a new oil pump.

Service Vehicle Soon
Different manufacturers use this light differently, but it rarely indicates a serious problem. It could mean a minor repair is necessary. In many cars, this light simply indicates that you've driven the recommended maximum miles between oil changes. Please refer to your auto's owner's manual.

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
You have low air pressure in at least one tire when this light appears. Low tire pressure is unsafe. Check your tires soon, and add air to any low ones. If the light remains lit, you may need to replace your TPMS sensors.

Slip Indicator
When your traction-gaining components engage, this light simultaneously flashes. These components include electronic stability control and traction control. If the light shines while you have good traction, make a service appointment. Your traction system may require repairs.

Charging System Warning Light
Several components make up your car's charging system. This light may correspond with an inability to start your car. Commonly, it indicates a drained battery or a worn-out alternator.

Brake System
A fault in your brake system will activate this light. Often, that fault is a fluid leak in your brake lines or master cylinder. Lost brake fluid means lost brake pressure. Come in for service very soon.

Open Door Warning Light
You'll see this light when you open any door on your car. It may also be connected to your trunk. If this light is indicated, check all doors before you drive.

Coolant Level Warning
Without sufficient coolant, engines become too hot. This light notifies you of a coolant system problem. While you can add coolant to the system, you should also schedule a service appointment. Driving with a coolant system problem ultimately causes extreme engine temperatures and costly damage.
