What's New For the 2020 Toyota Camry & Camry Hybrid?

The 2020 Toyota Camry is an excellent contender for the family sedan segment. For 2020, Toyota has brought in its performance division, Toyota Racing Development, with a TRD trim joining the line-up of available trims. The Toyota Camry comes in a comprehensive line-up that will satisfy the needs of all prospective buyers - from suburban families and track racers and city commuters.

The Toyota Camry Has Many Features Across Several Trims

The Camry comes in several trim levels, including the L, LE, XLE, SE, SE-Nightshade, XSE, TRD, XLE V6, XSE V6, and the Hybrid LE. The base Camry features a basic 7.0 infotainment system that has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. The Camry TRD is a standout trim option. Toyota Racing Development has tuned the Camry TRD for maximum performance. However, the TRD forgoes comfort features such as navigation, leather interior, and driver assistance features. The Camry LE has a power driver's seat and alloy wheels. The XSE and XLE have power-adjustable leather front seats, keyless ignition, and JBL audio.

2020 Toyota CamryThe 2020 Toyota Camry comes in a variety of powertrain options. The car comes in either a fuel-efficient in-line four-cylinder engine, a powerful V-6 engine, or an economical hybrid. The 3.5L V-6 produces an impressive 301HP. The 2.5L in-line 4-cylinder engine produces 203HP, which is transmitted to the front wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. For the hybrid trims, Toyota adds an electric motor to support the 176HP in-line 4-cylinder engine. The Camry Hybrid LE trim utilizes a lithium-ion battery.

On the other hand, the hybrid XLE and XSE trims make use of a nickel-metal-hybrid battery. Camry models featuring the standard four-cylinder engine achieve an impressive 29mpg and 41mpg economy ratings in the city and on the highway, respectively. The Camry LE and SE have fuel economy ratings of 28mpg and 39mpg in the city and highway, respectively. The XLE and XSE are more powerful but not as efficient with ratings of 27mpg and 38mpg in the city and on the highway, respectively. The Camry Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient of them all, delivering a whopping 51 mpg in the city and 52mpg on the highway.

2020 Toyota CamryEvery Camry comes with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high-beam headlights, active lane control, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trim levels of the Camry feature blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alerts, and a surround-view camera system. The NHTSA gave the Camry an overall safety rating of 5 stars. In each of the crash tests performed, the Camry scored five stars.
