Everyone knows Toyota spearheaded the hybrid market with the Prius. Now they have something else to be very proud about with the addition of a new variant to its four-generation Prius hybrid lineup: the Prius Prime.

Designed as the replacement for the previous Prius Plug-In Hybrid, the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime is sure to become a consumer favorite, with its ultra-savvy design and fantastic fuel efficiency. In fact, Toyota expects the hybrid to obtain an efficiency rating of 120 mpg or better, making it the most fuel-efficient plug-in hybrid on the market.

Toyota also anticipates a combined rating of 52 mpg on gasoline power, and a whopping 600 miles total range with both a full tank of gas and a fully-charged battery pack.

At first glance, the Prime looks much like other Prius models; however, if you look a little closer, you’ll notice the styling is actually quite different. LED taillights replace the vertical ones that are found on other Prius versions, along with the Prime’s unique front fascia.

Hop inside, and you’ll see a tablet-like infotainment display and easy-to-use navigation functions. The vehicle can also connect to smartphone applications to locate charging stations, for hassle-free battery charges. Speaking of charging, the Prime can be fully charged in as little as 5.5 hours with a standard 120-volt household outlet or in just two hours on 240 volts.

In terms of safety, the Prime comes with optional, top-tier safety technologies, like forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, as well as adaptive cruise control.

While the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime won’t be available at Vandergriff Toyota until later this year, we do have several other 2016 Toyota Prius models on sale now. Please stop by our dealership and take one of them for a spin today!
