Toyota and BMW's joint sports car project has been the talk of the town for over a year, with many hoping it would result in a brand-new, next-generation Supra model. The unveiling of the Toyota FT-1 concept at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show lead car enthusiasts to believe a Supra was indeed on the way, and unlike previous versions, it would come outfitted with a hybrid powertrain.

It was just a few months ago that Toyota revealed it had plans to enter a Yaris-based hatchback into the 2017 World Rally Championship and now it's being said that a production version of the model could be on its way. If true, this could mark the return of Toyota into the hot hatch segment, expanding the increasingly competitive class.
